About Braga

Braga is located in the heart of the fertile province of Minho, in the north of Portugal, surrounded by a rolling landscape of mountains and forests, and very near to the beach. Braga is renowned for its baroque churches, splendid 18th century houses, and beautiful parks and gardens. The city’s history is expressed in its numerous churches and monuments, including the Sé Cathedral in the city centre, together with the sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, an important pilgrimage site. While the historic city centre is solemn and antique, Braga also has a fast-growing innovative counterpart, where industry, commerce, and universities have brought a modern way of life.

Although it is the oldest city of Portugal, existing from the roman times, Braga is also known as the “City of Youth”, being rich in gastronomy, culture and events.
